Nordic Combined 2026 Qualification System (Updated Rules)
The qualification system for Nordic Combined at the 2026 Winter Olympics has changed compared to the 2022 Beijing Games. For Milano-Cortina 2026, there will be a total of 36 quota places for male athletes, including one quota reserved for the host nation, Italy. Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) can qualify up to three athletes, making every quota highly valuable.
Qualification is based on performances in designated International Ski Federation (FIS) events leading up to the Games. Athletes are eligible to compete if they have achieved at least one World Cup or Grand Prix point in their career, or if they earned at least one Continental Cup point during the qualification period from July 2024 to 18 January 2026.
From the same time period, NOCs can qualify up to two quotas based on the combined rankings of the two World Cup seasons. After those are awarded, the Continental Cup standings are used to fill the remaining quota spots. If the full 36 quotas are still not filled, then NOCs with the highest-ranked third athlete may claim the remaining places. This structure creates a more competitive road to qualification and rewards consistent international performance.
